Ysgol Hen Felin Welcomes Trade Centre Wales Ambassador Alfie Thomas for End-of-Year Celebration

It’s the final week of school for many including Ysgol Hen Felin who this week were full of smiles when Trade Centre Wales Ambassador and former Welsh rugby player Alfie Thomas turned up to join in the fun!
This remarkable school in Ystrad in the Rhondda, welcomed Alfie for their end-of-year celebration and awards ceremony.
Ysgol Hen Felin supports pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs. Many of the children face life-limiting or complex medical conditions, while others manage ongoing challenges with strength and resilience. What stood out most during the visit was the joy, determination, and spirit radiating from every pupil, matched only by the unwavering commitment of the school’s dedicated staff.
Alfie spent time meeting with pupils and staff, joining in the celebration of their achievements throughout the school year. It was a day full of inspiration and emotion—one that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
“The energy and courage of the pupils at Ysgol Hen Felin is genuinely humbling,” said Alfie Thomas.
“As a former player, I’ve experienced some powerful moments on the pitch, but nothing compares to the spirit I saw in that school. It was a privilege to be part of their special day—and I left feeling inspired and uplifted. These young people and their teachers are nothing short of incredible.”
Trade Centre Wales has always been committed to supporting local communities, and this visit is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long-lasting relationship with Ysgol Hen Felin.
