With the sun out at Govilon AFC as they kindly let us use their fantastic facility and with banter of who?s playing and who?s going to win building up to boiling point on Facebook and Twitter the evening of football which was organised by Miss Blaenau Gwent ?Emily Morgan? Raising money for The Joshua Foundation was always going to be a great spectacle.
Kick off time! And both teams are finding their feet as most of the players haven?t kicked a ball for a few years and judging by some of the early tackles both teams mean business, With Skinners mounting the pressure early on and having some near misses it?s TCW who mounts a defensive attack and Paul England puts a belter in the back of the net.
Its 1 -0 Skinners are starting to force the game and are making too many mistakes and it?s Liam Wildy who puts TCW 2 -0 up, a great goal from the youngster!, Skinners settle down and start putting in a great passage of play and are rewarded with Darren Hillman striking a great ball into the corner of the net. Its 2 -1
It?s a bit of a dog fight out there and both teams are testing each other?s defence but it TCW once again who gets the upper hand and it?s Ashley Palmer who puts a cracking header into the back of the net. 3 -1
Skinners need to bounce back and quick, with pressure mounting they get a penalty after a bad tackle, with a shot at goal they miss! A great opportunity has gone for them to get back into the game and with Ryland Warren?s great defensive work it?s again TCW who take advantage as Ashley Palmer gets 2ndgoal just before half time. Its 4 -1
Half time and the weather is holding up even though we get a small shower, Skinners need a good team talk here and need to get back into the game, TCW on the other hand are on a high. Can they keep it up?
Here we go and its seems that Skinners have got a stride back in their step and start mounting some serious pressure as they are having some great passage of play but just can?t seem to find the net and once again it TCW who mounts a counter attack and scores first in the 2nd half, Its 5 -1
Skinners put up a brave fight but the flood gates start to open and there seems to be a goal every couple of minutes now and before you know it they are out of the game.
With the ref Blowing up for full time the sun is still out and everybody is taking advantage of the hospitality laid on by Govilon AFC and TCW celebrate with a new trophy for the cabinet.
Final score TCW 10 – Skinners 1 (Man of the Match is Ryland Warren)
