We would like to congratulate all the riders who took part in the charity bike ride for Shelter Cymru. After reading a letter from the organiser Richard (below) we were really proud to have been given the opportunity to sponsor Alec Stock on his journey through Paris given the tough conditions that Alec and all the riders faced!

Shelter Cymru is Wales’ people and homes charity. Their vision is that everyone in Wales should have a decent home. They believe a home is a fundamental right and essential to the health and well-being of people and communities.

A note from Richard (the organiser)“Hi everyone.

Just wanted to send out a message to say many congratulations on completing the Shelter Cymru Cardiff to Parisride.

This years ride presented us with a huge challenge with the wild weather, I thought each and every one of you were magnificent in how you coped in such difficult circumstances.

When I start to put these adventures together the dream is for everyone to start and finish together making the experience far more enjoyable, and I was over the moon and full of emotion when the team gelled together and stuck it through the stormy days. After being a veteran of many European cycling adventures I cannot say I’ve cycled in worse rain than that so very well done to you all.

It was lovely to see so many happy faces back in Cardiff and giving the double legers Gwyn, Tessa, and Alec a great welcome back and they richly deserved it.

Can I say a big thank you to all who helped the peloton and group riding work so well you know who you are THANK YOU, Thank you to all for taking part in what is a big adventure we hoped that you enjoyed the route and the wonderful memories. As a group of riders that is the fastest of any groups I have taken before on a European tour you were bombing along day 3 and 4 so a lot of hard work must have been put in before hand to reach great average speed.

Each year we organise many events for different charities and I would like to say a huge thank you to Andrew Jones and his team. I have worked in cycling events for Andrew for around 15yrs and still to this day there is no one that I enjoy working with more, thank you Andrew and your team for all the help and assistance again this year.

Planning has started for 2013 for those heading westward across the Irish Sea . Whatever happens they can’t get as wet as you did though. I have confirmed that no group has ever ridden as well or partied as hard though!

Kindest Regards.

Richard.”
