Trade Centre Wales Visits Ty Eirin Care Home
Wednesday 11th March 2026
As part of its ongoing commitment to the local community, Trade Centre Wales made its first care home visit to Ty Eirin in Tonyrefail, who were overjoyed to learn they topped the list, with plans to visit more in the future.
Ambassador for Trade Centre Wales, Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas, spent time with residents, bringing music, memories, and meaningful conversation to the day.
“Most people know someone who has been touched by dementia,” said Alfie.
“It’s incredible how songs can spark memories—even when someone can’t remember what they did yesterday, music can take them back years.”
Alfie even led the group in the national anthem and was astonished at how many residents remembered him from his Grand Slam days and Wales’ 2005 victory, when Alfie was captain of the Wales team. Throughout the visit, Alfie engaged in heartfelt conversations with residents and staff, calling the day “lovely, fulfilling, and rewarding.”
Mark Bailey, Founder and Director of Trade Centre Wales, added:
“Our community is at the heart of everything we do. Seeing the joy and connection our ambassadors brought to Ty Eirin Care Home is exactly what this programme is about—creating meaningful moments and memories for those who have given so much to our society.”
This is just the first of many care home visits planned as part of Trade Centre Wales’ dedication to giving back to the communities it serves.
