Trade Centre Wales is proud to spotlight the success of its ongoing community engagement programme, powered by its team of passionate brand ambassadors. One standout partnership—between brand ambassadors Gareth “Alfie” Thomas and Mike Doyle together Afon y Felin Primary School—continues to highlight how meaningful collaboration can create brighter futures for young people across Wales.

For several years, Trade Centre Wales has supported Afon y Felin by providing essential sports equipment including netball kits, posts, and a variety of resources designed to help pupils discover new skills and develop confidence through sport. This investment has been instrumental in helping the school break down financial barriers and open new doors for its learners.

Alfie Thomas, who has been in regular contact with the school, shared how rewarding the experience has been:

“What’s really encouraging is seeing how this partnership is helping children thrive. Seeing first-hand the joy these extra opportunities bring shows just how much of a difference community support can make.”

Recently, Trade Centre Wales transported 17 pupils—including three children who had never visited the capital city—to attend the Wales rugby game at the Principality Stadium. Thanks to the support of the WRU, whose Diversity and Inclusion Officer has recognised the school’s impressive efforts, pupils were not only welcomed but commended for their commitment to inclusivity and their growing passion for rugby.

This recognition is even more remarkable given that just three years ago, Afon y Felin did not participate in sport at all due to cost barriers. Today, they are not only competing—they are thriving. Many pupils are now actively involved in rugby, showcasing newfound confidence, teamwork, and athletic ability. The school is being celebrated for fostering an inclusive, competitive, and vibrant sporting culture.

Looking ahead, Afon y Felin is set to become part of an exciting new super school project, which will deliver enhanced facilities, shared community spaces, and expanded opportunities for learners and local residents. Trade Centre Wales is committed to supporting this journey and ensuring community investment remains at the heart of its mission.

Mark Bailey, Founder and Director of Trade Centre Wales, emphasised the importance of this work:

“Trade Centre Wales was built on the values of community and opportunity. Partnerships like the one we have with Afon y Felin reflect our belief that every child deserves access to experiences that help them grow. We’re proud to stand alongside the school as it moves into an exciting new chapter and to see how far the pupils have already come.”

Trade Centre Wales will continue to invest in programmes that empower young people, strengthen local communities, and support the wellbeing of families across Wales.
