Trade Centre Wales sponsor charity golf day at Langland Golf Club in remembrance of Mark EvansFriday 10th August 2018
The Trade Centre Wales has donated £2000 to charity event at Langland Golf Club in remembrance of golf pro, Mark Evans, who worked at Langland Bay Golf Club for over 20 years. The event raised money for Tŷ Bryngwyn, a Designated Centre of Excellence, providing specialist palliative care for the community of Carmarthenshire, and also the family of Mark Evans.
Star studded event
The event was held last month and was organised by ex-rugby players and members of Langland golf club, Jonathan Davies and Huw Rees. The two were good friends of Mark and the three regularly played golf together. Andrew Minty, PGA Director of Golf of Langland Golf Club said: “Mark Evans was the heart and soul of our golf club, so it was really important for us to dedicate a day in his honour, whilst raising money for the hospice where he was looked after.
“There were 38 teams that entered on the day. The teams were made up of three amateurs and one celebrity. Celebrities included entertainer Owen Money, former Wales international rugby union player Stuart Davies and Welsh professional golfer Lydia Hall.
“The money from Trade Centre Wales helped to raise the profile of the event, making the day extra special. Mark was a loyal and hard-working supporter of the club and it’s great we had this opportunity to pay this tribute.
“We raised roughly £6500 of which a huge chunk came from The Trade Centre Wales. Mark’s wife and children attended on the day which made it even more special.”
A big thank you
Susan Thomas, secretary of the fund-raising committee at Tŷ Bryngwyn Hospice, said: “We are so very grateful to Langland Gold Club and The Trade Centre Wales for their generous donation. We are so grateful for their support. We are in the midst of a major refurbishment, so it is appreciated now more than ever.”
A community-focused business
Andy Coulthurst, CEO of The Trade Centre Wales, said: “Mark was a real legend at Langland Golf Club, and we are proud to be able to show our support for this event. It’s great knowing that we are able to help raise money for Mark’s family and Tŷ Bryngwyn, which is such a great cause.”
