As part of its ongoing Community Engagement Programme, Trade Centre Wales was proud to help create an unforgettable experience for local school children, thanks to the efforts of ambassadors Gareth Alfie Thomas and Mike Doyle.

Trade Centre Wales arranged a special trip for 90 pupils from Pen-y-Bont Primary School in Bridgend to attend a pantomime performance in Cardiff. For many of the children, this was their very first time experiencing a pantomime, making the day even more memorable.

The group attended Sleeping Beauty at the New Theatre Cardiff, where Trade Centre Wales brand ambassador Mike Doyle was starring as the much-loved character Nurse Nellie. The production also featured well-known Welsh personalities Gethin Jones and Owain Wyn Evans from BBC Radio 2, adding to the excitement.

After the show, the children were treated to an extra special surprise when they were given the opportunity to meet the cast. They were thrilled to meet Mike in person, eagerly asking him questions and chatting about the performance – an experience they will no doubt remember for years to come.

Mark Bailey, Founder and Director of Trade Centre Wales, said:

“Giving back to our communities is at the heart of everything we do at Trade Centre Wales. To be able to provide experiences like this – especially for children who may never have had the opportunity before – is incredibly rewarding. Seeing the smiles on their faces and knowing we’ve helped create lifelong memories is what our community work is all about.”

Robbie Owen, Headteacher at Pen-y-Bont Primary School, added:

“On behalf of everyone at Pen-y-Bont Primary School, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Trade Centre Wales and the team for providing such a memorable experience for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. The children absolutely loved every aspect of the trip to watch the pantomime. For many, it was their very first visit to Cardiff, which was an exciting adventure. Our pupils were thrilled to meet Mike Doyle in person – something they are still talking about. The generosity shown in organising and covering the cost of this trip means so much to us. Experiences like these create lasting memories and inspire our pupils in ways that go far beyond the classroom.”

The trip was a huge success, with pupils returning home full of excitement and stories to share. From their first visit to Cardiff to enjoying a fantastic live performance and meeting the stars, the day was truly unforgettable.

At Trade Centre Wales, supporting local communities and creating positive, meaningful experiences for young people remains a key priority, and this special pantomime trip is a shining example of that commitment in action.
