South Wales Schools and Education Awards 2024: A Celebration of Excellence
Monday 8th July 2024On Wednesday, 26 June 2024, the South Wales Schools and Education Awards unfolded in a grand celebration at the Chepstow Racecourse. Sponsored by Trade Centre Wales, this prestigious event brought together educators and community members to honour the outstanding achievements in the educational sector of South Wales.
The evening was marked by a palpable sense of excitement and pride as attendees gathered to recognise the hard work and dedication of those who have made significant contributions to education. The Chepstow Racecourse, adorned with elegant decorations and vibrant displays, provided the perfect backdrop for this momentous occasion.
Trade Centre Wales, as the headline sponsor, played a pivotal role in the success of the evening. The presence our Brand Ambassadors, Mike Doyle and Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas, added a touch of inspiration. Both ambassadors are well-respected figures, known for their accomplishments and contributions to the community, making them fitting representatives for an event celebrating excellence and dedication.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the awards presentation. The atmosphere was electric as Mike Doyle took to the stage to present the award to the deserving winner. Doyle, known for his charismatic presence and dedication to the community, delivered a heartfelt speech, emphasising the importance of education and the impact it has on future generations.
Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas also made a significant impact with his presence, sharing his own experiences and insights. His motivational words and approachable demeanour made him a favourite among the guests.
The first victory of the night came in the Primary School of the Year category, presented by Adam Sherief, Head of People at the Trade Centre group. The second major accolade, the highly coveted Overall School of the Year award, was sponsored by Trade Centre Wales and presented by brand ambassador Mike Doyle.
A particularly poignant moment was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Gwyn Baldwin and Judith Joy of Llanyrafon Primary School in Cwmbran. This award, given months after their retirement from decades-long careers, honoured two women who had “given so much” to their school. Gwyn Baldwin accepted the award, presented by Trade Centre Wales’ brand ambassador Gareth Thomas, on behalf of herself and Judith Joy.
