Our Partnership with Caerphilly Dragons: Supporting Grassroots Football Through Our Community Engagement Programme
Tuesday 24th September 2024On Wednesday 18th September, our Brand Ambassador, Mike Doyle, had the pleasure of visiting the Caerphilly Dragons Girls’ Football Club as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering community spirit through our Community Engagement Programme powered by Trade Centre Wales. The Caerphilly Dragons, a football club established in 2019 by a group of dedicated parents, has rapidly grown into a hub for young girls to play football in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment.
The Dragons provide an inclusive space for girls of varying ages and abilities, with teams ranging from Under-5s all the way to the Ladies team. From its humble beginnings, the club has come a long way, and it is a privilege for us to be part of their inspiring journey.
Gwyn Roberts, the club secretary of Caerphilly Dragons, shared his appreciation for Mike Doyle’s visit, saying:
“Just wanted to pass on our huge thanks to Mike Doyle for coming along to visit us at Caerphilly Dragons today. He was great with the girls and was eager to engage and find out about our club and what we do. It’s fantastic to have such a supportive and interested sponsorship partner, and we are looking forward to developing our relationship going forward. Our girls love the kit! Thanks again.”
Mike Doyle was warmly welcomed by the club on what turned out to be a particularly busy training evening, with three of the teams hard at work on the pitch. The training session was excellently led by Vanessa Maidment. The professionalism, dedication, and camaraderie of the club were evident from the outset.
Watching the girls train, Mike couldn’t help but be impressed by the level of commitment and skill on display. “What a fantastic group of players. Certainly one of the best I’ve seen in a while. They are very well organised, talented, and the hunger they have to be the best in their game is admirable,” he said. “This is definitely a winning side, and we are proud to sponsor them this season.”
The Caerphilly Dragons Girls’ Football Club represents everything we value in community partnerships—encouraging inclusivity, developing talent, and nurturing a love for sport in a fun and supportive setting. We are honoured to be part of their story, and we look forward to cheering them on throughout the season.
As a company, we believe that grassroots football plays an essential role in shaping the future of sport. Through our Community Engagement Programme, we aim to support initiatives like the Caerphilly Dragons, helping to create opportunities for young players to develop both on and off the pitch.
Mark Bailey, founder and owner of Trade Centre Wales, emphasised the importance of supporting grassroots football, particularly for young girls, saying:
“At Trade Centre Wales, we believe in the power of sport to inspire and empower young people, and it’s a privilege to sponsor a team like Caerphilly Dragons. Supporting girls’ football is incredibly important to us, as it’s vital to encourage, promote, and provide opportunities for girls to thrive in the game. The dedication and passion shown by these young players is remarkable, and we are proud to be part of their journey. We hope our sponsorship helps them continue to grow, develop, and achieve their full potential.”
We wish the Dragons continued success, and we are excited to see what the future holds for this amazing club. Here’s to a winning season!
