Celebrating St David’s Day in our Communities
Wednesday 8th April 2026
Brand ambassadors from Trade Centre Wales recently joined local communities across Wales to celebrate St David’s Day, taking part in school events that highlighted Welsh culture, creativity and tradition.
One visit took place on Tuesday at Afon y Felin Primary School, where pupils held a vibrant St David’s Day celebration featuring Welsh poetry, crafts, design, singing and traditional dancing.
Trade Centre Wales brand ambassador Gareth Thomas, known to many as “Alfie,” joined the school’s governors to judge the pupils’ house competitions. Students proudly showcased their work across poetry, arts and crafts, and performances celebrating our Welsh heritage.
The highlight of the day saw the winning poet honoured in a traditional bardic chair, bringing a strong and memorable moment to the celebrations.
Alfie said:
“It was a fantastic day celebrating everything that makes Wales special. Seeing the creativity, pride and confidence from the pupils was brilliant. The poetry competition was powerful, and crowning the winner in the chair made it a special moment for everyone involved.”
Founder and Director of Trade Centre Wales, Mark Bailey, added:
“Community engagement is at the heart of what we do at Trade Centre Wales. Supporting local schools and celebrating Welsh culture with young people is something we are incredibly proud to be part of. Events like this show the passion and pride that exists in communities right across Wales.”
The visit formed part of Trade Centre Wales’ wider community engagement programme, supporting schools and local initiatives across the country in this case celebrating the traditions that make Wales unique.
