This week The Trade Centre Wales announced plans for national growth and confirmed the appointment of Andy Coulthurst, currently Managing Director of Motors.co.uk, to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Prior to his 3 years leading the growth of the Manheim owned car classified network, Andy spent 25 years leading sales operations in car supermarkets and more recently Yorkshire based premium dealer group JCT600.

The Trade Centre Wales, is one of the biggest car supermarkets in the country, and we’ve invested £2.8 million in a new workshop facility, expanding business growth and creating new jobs in the community. We have recently invested £2.8 million in a new workshop facility, investing both in the business and the local community. Located in Neath Abbey, the new facility is set to be the largest of its kind within Wales. With 32 ramps in total, state of the art equipment and a paint shop facility, the new workshop is designed to support and service both The Trade Centre Wales sites in Merthyr Tydfil and Neath. It is expected that the workshop will create 60 new jobs for the local community, making it both an exciting venture us as a car supermarket and the local area.

So with October 1st looming we thought it best here at Trade Centre Wales to educate buyers on what to do when buying their used cars in South Wales! ​First of all, why are the DVLA scrapping the tax disc? Well, it’s been around for more than 93 years after being first introduced in 1921… (Where they cost around £6). So we know it’s old, more importantly there are enough ANPR cameras on the roads now to enforce it, it’s extremely rare to find an authority checking tax discs; aside from the mobile DVLA units. Locally speaking, we’ve spotted permanent ANPR cameras being setup around our Neath site, and also just about every junction leaving the M4 around Swansea and Cardiff. Somebody say big brother?
